Me chanced upon an article in Janice Wong's Book, " SPG " ( Haha..go find out wat it means, hint: its NOT sarong party girl... ) that says something remarkably true about speed dating. Me can't remember exactly the entire thing but the gist of the idea goes something like this...
In this age, speed dating is more or less zeroing in on speed and efficiency, and people want to find the " Best Match " for their Ideal Boyfriends/Girlfriends or Husband-to-be-s/Wife-to-be-s in the shortest time and hassle-free way possible...
Well, on the surface, it sounds " reasonable " and " right " but where feelings and viewpoints are concerned, each and one individual's feelings and viewpoints can differ from time to time..but nevertheless there are some " Truths/Facts " that are constant and might not easily be changed...
Most people are only concerned in portraying the " Best Face " of their Personalities and if there are any " Bad Face " of their Personalities like digging the nose, no table manners or shaking your legs, it will immediately be " temporarily cloaked " and hidden from the view of your prospective partner...
But as most people will know, paper can't wrap up a fire and a leopard never changes its spots, people will slowly and eventually over time reveal their true nature day by day, layer by layer...
Good and Evil co-exist side by side. Its hard to imagine how one will exist without the other. Hues of Black and White are what balances the world and makes it "complete". People dedicated to doing good deeds are bound to make mistakes the same way just like how people who perpetrate heinous crimes are bound to show acts of kindness. Though the frequency and magnitude of these deeds or misdeeds may be in discrepancy and it's subjective and hard to judge how " Good " or " Bad" a person is, You or Me usually have sufficient Power & Privilege to Arbitrate whether we want to put our trust in a person.
That's why sometimes me envy those fuddy-duddy couples in age-old soap operas who get to marry and live happily after, after encountering various trials and tribulations. You get to see and gauge how the person treats you when he/she is in good mood as well as..in bad mood..., when you are in merry moments as well as..in dire distress...and how he/she treats you when you are together with him/her as well as..when you are far away from him/her...
There's some things that can be rushed and some that can't..When you overclock and speed up the process of brewing a nice cool tea, or warm dandy coffee without knowing the exact timing, the taste goes ( you know ! )...awry......
